WELLNESS: WELLNESS BECAME A STATUS SYMBOL
In How to Be Well, journalist Amy Larocca unpacks how wellness—once a matter of basic care—has transformed into an elite, aspirational status symbol. She exposes how the trillion-dollar wellness industry has co-opted self-care and health, especially for women, turning them into both an expectation and a luxury. What began as a radical form of self-reliance, has now become a commercialized cycle of beauty rebranded as “glow” and empowerment sold through jade rollers and detox teas. Larocca also questions the blurred line between healthy routines and harmful obsessions, noting how wellness language can cloud common sense. Her own approach? Sleep, walking, Pilates, an occasional SoulCycle class—and a healthy dose of skepticism.

TRAVEL: HOTEL CAP-EDEN-ROC, THE EXCLUSIVE SOUTH OF FRANCE HOTEL
Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc is the crown jewel of the French Riviera, a 5-star escape that’s played host to the world’s most glamorous celebs for over 150 years. Once a serene retreat for writers, this cliffside chateau-turned-luxury resort now welcomes icons like Beyoncé, the Kardashians, and Sofia Richie (who got married there, BTW). With just 118 ultra-exclusive rooms, scoring a reservation is notoriously tough—unless you're part of the A-list crowd or willing to shell out up to $12K a night for the top suite. From its Dior spa and oceanfront restaurants to its iconic heated pool and palm-lined driveway, every corner of the 22-acre estate screams old-school opulence. Whether during Cannes or a quiet summer stay, it's a place where privacy reigns and luxury knows no bounds.

BEAUTY: THIS FRENCH SKINCARE BRAND IS LAUNCHING IN THE U.S
French skincare has become quite popular for its minimal + botanical-rich formulations, especially among those who have sensitive or acne prone skin. Compared to the states (where only 11 cosmetic ingredients are banned), the European Union restricts 1,600+, which is why French products are generally gentler and safer. Gatineau is a legacy French brand known for anti-aging and skin-barrier-supporting ingredients, and recently launched in the U.S — exclusively through QVC. Dermatologists actually emphasize that French skincare has a great blend of natural and clinical ingredients, which increases the simplicity and effectiveness of the products.

If you’re a fan of classics, this is your jam. The way she pronounces the words with such clarity + poise is bound to stimulate you. It’s definitely one that gets you smiling!

ON LOVING YOURSELF: You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection — Buddha

Self-love is not selfish—it's essential. More often than not, we direct compassion and kindness toward others but forget to extend that same grace to ourselves, but our own well-being matters just as much as anyone else's. When we love ourselves, we build a foundation of self-worth, resilience, and inner peace, which then allows us to love others more fully and authentically.

ROME, ITALY

EAT: When in Rome, food options are endless. Head to That’s Amore (close to Trevi fountain) for lunch or dinner. They offer authentic Italian pizzas amongst other dishes. Before dinner, grab a drink at the Cielo Bar — they also have amazing oysters. The Cielo Bar is a great option for dinner as well. If you’re ready for a Michelin-star experience with a view of the Roman Colosseum, then you’ll want to make a reservation at Aroma. Diana’s Place is another great option for dinner where they have top-quality ingredients.

STAY: For luxury accommodations, consider the St. Regis, Hotel De Russie, or the Six Senses. If you’re traveling with family and prefer to have a 2 bedroom, check out Sonder. These are luxury Airbnb-style stays. To get a true historical, Italian experience you’ll want to look into the Residenza Napoleone III.

DO: Take a tour of the Roman Colosseum and if you really want to get into the spirit, watch The Gladiator (before or after) visiting. The Trevi Fountain is also worth visiting but can get packed so go early. You should also plan to visit The Vatican City — be sure to follow the dress code. The oldest pharmacy in Europe is located in Rome and dates back to the 16th century so be sure to give it a visit. Be sure to call the pharmacy or email to make an appointment to visit. During the evening, head to Trastavere where there are many bars to choose from.
