BUSINESS: PEPSICO TO PURCHASE HEALTH-FOOD COMPANY FOR BILLIONS
If you’ve ever tried anything from the very popular & loved, Siete Foods, then you know all of their items are grain free, dairy free, and non-GMO. Well, PepsiCo recently announced its acquisition of this Austin-based company for $1.2 billion! Seems like they also loved the Siete line of products. Siete Foods, founded in 2014 by Veronica Garza, originated from her need to adapt Mexican recipes due to autoimmune diseases. PepsiCo's CEO, Ramon Laguarta, is very enthusiastic about carrying on the Garza family's legacy while expanding its portfolio with an authentic Mexican-American brand and healthier food offerings.
REAL ESTATE: GEORGE CLOONEY SELLS HOME TO MCCAFFREY & OLIVIA CULPO
George Clooney has sold his Los Angeles estate to NFL player Christian McCaffrey and model Olivia Culpo for $14.5 million. Clooney purchased the three-acre property in 1995 for $2.2 million. Over the years, he expanded and renovated the 7,354-square-foot home, adding amenities like a theater, basketball court, and wine wall. The estate includes multiple guesthouses, a tennis court, and a pool. .
LIFESTYLE: STOP ASKING PEOPLE “WHAT DO YOU DO?”
It’s become pretty common for this question to be a part of conversations, but maybe it’s time for that to stop. There’s a complex relationship between personal identity and career, where a lot of people begin to introduce themselves as their professional certification title, but let’s not forget how those individuals may cope that aren’t actively employed in a traditional job. It’s important to be mindful of those who may be in between careers, work on as-need-be basis, were recently laid off, or even forced into early retirement. Job titles can be important for marginalized groups, providing validation and credibility, but there may be a cultural shift happening currently, with younger generations placing less emphasis on career as a primary identity.
Stoicism is a belief system originating in Ancient Greece and Rome — one of the best known stoics is Emperor Marcus Aurelius. The Daily Stoic offers 366 days of Stoic insights and exercises. Every day of the year you'll find one of their pithy, quotations, as well as historical anecdotes, and commentary. This is a book to have on your nightstand and read a slight bit daily.
ON PERSEVERANCE: Courage doesn’t always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying ‘I will try again tomorrow.’ – Mary Anne Radmacher
Sometimes it’s the small wins that matter and with persistence the odds will eventually be in your favor.
