TRAVEL: PEOPLE ARE MOVING INTO WELLNESS RESORTS
Wealthy baby boomers have become more drawn to wellness-focused luxury residences that offer a blend of high-end living and comprehensive health amenities. These developments (often associated with upscale resorts) provide residents access to a wide range of wellness services, from spa treatments and fitness classes to on-site medical care and advanced diagnostic testing. The Susurros del CorazĆ³n in Mexico, SHA Mexico in Costa Mujeres, and VelvƦre in Utah, are 3 residence examples that can cost between $2 million to $12 million! This trend is heavily reflecting a shift away from traditional retirement communities, with buyers seeking environments that prioritize holistic health and preventative care alongside luxurious accommodations.

WELLNESS: FERTILITY RATE DROPPED TO LOWEST IN 2023
The fertility rate in the United States reached a record low in 2023. There were about 55 births per 1,000 women aged 15-44, a 3% decrease from 2022. This could be due to factors such as delayed marriages, longer education periods, and changing attitudes towards family size. While there was a brief uptick in 2021, possibly due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the overall trend remains downward. The birth rate is highest among women aged 30-34, and teen birth rates have hit a record low.

WORK LIFE: YOU CAN STILL LAND A SIGNING BONUS, SANS ADVERTISEMENT
Even though hiring has slowed down over this year, signing bonuses remain a prevalent practice in the job market, with companies offering them at higher rates than before the pandemic. These bonuses are used to attract qualified candidates or to keep starting salaries lower while still providing competitive compensation, AKA incentive. While some companies advertise these bonuses openly, many are willing to offer them discreetly (sans advertisement) to close deals with desirable candidates. The practice spans various industries, with healthcare and specialized fields like civil engineering and IT being particularly likely to offer signing bonuses.

Lucy Maud Montgomery's 1908 classic novel "Anne of Green Gables" follows Anne Shirley, an orphan adopted by the Cuthbert family on Prince Edward Island, Canada. The story is about Anne's journey from a spirited, imaginative girl to a mature young woman. Her infectious personality and resilience help her overcome challenges and form deep, lasting bonds with those around her. Through Anne's experiences, youā€™ll witness the power of love, friendship, and self-discovery in this timeless coming-of-age tale. You can also watch Anne with an E on Netflix prior to reading if you prefer.

ON SETBACKS: ā€œI donā€™t like to lose ā€” at anything ā€” yet Iā€™ve grown most not from victories, but setbacks.ā€ - Serena Williams

If we change our mindset from ā€˜lossā€™ to ā€˜lesson learnedā€™, we will never see losses the same. In fact, the more we learn, the more we grow.
