WORK LIFE: MEET THE #BLUECOLLAR GENERATION
Theres been a growing trend of young Americans pursuing well-paying skilled trade jobs, or “blue collar jobs” as an alternative to traditional 4 yr degrees. These jobs revolve around labor-intensive occupations that involve physical work as opposed to office, management, or professional white-collar careers, so think plumber (and to help you remember, the saying associated with blue collar is “dirty hands, clean money”). Enrollment in vocational programs has increased by 16%, people are showcasing their work + income on social media, and let’s just say it’s catching quite the eyes. Lexis Czumak-Abreu is an electrician who has 2.2+ million people watching her content across social channels and she’s only one of many that people love!
LIFESTYLE: LITHUANIA IS THE BEST WORLD TO BE YOUNG
Factors that contribute to their happiness: affordable living costs, ability to pursue creative passions with government funding, low student debt, optimism about jobs, and a sense of patriotism. While they acknowledge some downsides like long winters and a reputation for being boring, the young Lithuanians feel fortunate overall. Young people spend time playing sports, lounging in parks or join in on nightlife.
BUSINESS: LAST MINUTE BILL FOR RESTAURANT SERVICE FEES
California lawmakers are considering a bill to exempt restaurants from a new law that requires businesses to include service fees + other charges in the advertised price. This exemption would essentially allow restaurants to continue charging separate fees (such as mandatory gratuities), as long as they’re transparent about them. Supporters argue that this prevents restaurants from having to cut employee pay or raise menu prices but the critics say these "junk fees" are deceptive. The bill needs a ⅔ majority vote to take effect immediately before the original law goes into effect on July 1st.

ON ENERGY: Energy cannot be created or destroyed, it can only be changed from one form to another. - Albert Einstein
As human beings, we require energy to survive and function. The food we eat, the content we consume, the people we associate with, all provide chemical energy that our bodies convert into other forms of energy we need. However, we can’t create this energy out of nothing - it all comes originally from everything we consume. Our bodies just transform the chemical energy from food into other usable energy forms.
