BUSINESS: INTUIT IS LAYING OFF 1800 TO PIVOT TOWARDS AI
Intuit is restructuring its workforce by cutting 1,800 jobs which is ~10% of its staff + closing offices in Boise,Idaho and Edmonton, Alberta. This comes with their shift towards AI, which plans to hire 1,800 new employees that’ll work towards engineering, product, and customer-facing roles. Their CEO, Sasan Goodarzi, emphasized that these changes are aimed at reallocating resources to key growth areas, particularly AI. The estimated cost for this change is $250-$260 million, mostly in severance payments, and should be completed by October 31.
