BUSINESS: THE SIRIUSXM $125M DEAL TO END SPOTIFY PACT
Alex Cooper, the host of the "Call Her Daddy" podcast, has signed a multiyear agreement with SiriusXM worth up to $125 million. The deal is set to begin in 2025 and SiriusXM will have exclusive rights for advertising, distribution, content, and events for Cooper's flagship podcast and her Unwell Audio Network. But, the podcast will stay available to Spotify listeners. This agreement follows other recent high-profile podcast acquisitions by SiriusXM, including deals with SmartLess and Conan O'Brien's Team Coco, as the company expands its presence in the podcasting industry.

TRAVEL: TRAVEL SPENDING HAS SLOWED
The travel industry is showing signs of a slowdown as there have decreased domestic leisure demand from U.S. consumers. Many travelers are opting for cheaper accommodations or cutting back on spending, though high-income individuals continue to travel internationally. Factors contributing to this trend include rising prices, hidden fees, and a focus on experiences. While some sectors like cruises are benefiting, others such as domestic hotels are struggling.

WORK LIFE: A NATION OF WORKAHOLICS HAS A NEW FIXATION
Germany, once known for its strong work ethic, is experiencing a shift in attitudes towards work. Recent data shows Germans working fewer hours and taking more sick days than ever before, with trade unions pushing for shorter work weeks. This change is driven by younger generations rejecting the traditional “Protestant work ethic” while prioritizing work-life balance and personal well-being. The trend is causing concern among economists and politicians, who worry about its impact on Germany's stagnant economy and labor shortage.
